The Unbridgeable Gap

when family and children become consumer goods

The Unbridgeable Gap

Without love, we could have 10 more children,
delightful ones.
We could have a house in the mountains and one by the sea.
A nice bank account for the future, and nice cars.

But in the evening..
after putting the little ones to bed,
turning off the laptop,
putting away the necklace,
glancing at the SUVs in the garage,
we'll sit on the sofa
and watch a movie on the DVD player with Home Theater..

..at that moment,
you will have a few aches and pains,
and I will feel a little unwell,

because in the rush of it all..
we will have forgotten to take care of ourselves
and our souls,
which, unlike our bodies, feed only on love, and affection.
