Complexity

Complexity is a term created by humans. This term means everything that cannot be fully defined by a human comprehensible rule or a group of human-comprehensible rules.

So the human brain is complex, DNA is complex, social relationships are complex, the nature of Earth is complex, universe is complex.

Complexity probably won’t ever be fully captured by humans but of course it can be observed, perceived, absorbed, elaborated, familiarized, handled, shared, talked about, and why not.. loved because it is part of our extraordinary adventure and world around called life.. and of course.. we need to live.
In a certain way Complexity is the gap between actual human intellectual knowledge and full universe environment knowledge.

Complexity is the extreme knowledge frontier of a single and specific science (mathematics, physics, economy, psychology, etc) and the world of links and infinite relationships between all those sciences.

Complexity is also the point of harmony between biological pulsation, personal instinct reaction and defence, ego emotional and community expressions, science rational and logic observations, religion moral and spiritual need, art creative and imaginative explorations.

Complexity concern all aspects of life (it’s not a science-only-related method) for example family and school education processes or countries economy law and social organization.

I think all most sensible people in human history have been creating (or better configuring) in a part of their brain a sort of complex related specific “section” and we could imagine the brain divided in this five main thematic areas (see scheme below).

The Structure of Human Brain

In the 80s, the Santa Fè Institute (a sort of second manhattan project) represented one of the first groups of scientists and philosophers with multidisciplinary expertise with the aim of tracing the guidelines of a new frontier Life science: the Science of Complexity.

They were able to establish 3-4 common rules that are always present in every complex system or phenomenon.

THE 5 STAGES OF BRAIN LOGICAL/STRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT:

  • 1) Complex ** (awareness, sensible, managing) (second strong layer intersectorial connective links)
  • 2) Abstract (creative, imaginative) (first basement intersectorial connective links) (2-3 year)
  • 3) Logic/Rational (first strong elaborative basement) (1-2 year)
  • 4) Instinctual (reactive, imitative, emotional, perceptive)
  • 5) Biological (organic, basicm motorial)
  • ** emerging property: awareness, id, personality

    THE 3 STAGES OF CONSCIOUSNESS, MATURITY:

  • 1) Infantile Dependence: virgin brain absorbs information without filters, it's very reactive respondsing directly to the stimuli it receives. The child is unable to recognize himself in the mirror.
  • 2) Semi-Independence: The brain has built an early celebral base of information. Answer to stimuli from the outside is no longer direct, but it goes through the filter of this cerebral base which begins to process and influence one’s final answer. A child starts to do articulated sentences andactions resulting from the elaboration of several thoughts put together. This is a delicate stage. A not fully shaped Ego is at risking of selfishness, insanity, be megalomaniac or be extention of another Ego. Parents are the guardians..
  • 3) Independence: good job, your child is now walking on his own. He has reached mental independence. He's adult. He's great observer, he connects, perceives, communicate. To be mentally independent does not necessarily mean “being free” from influences of the world around, it definitely means “being aware” of the environment and all its influences.

    We can imagine the brain in this way: a five-story building, the top floor, a penthouse, is the only one that overlooks the mountains, you can have an overall view of the landscape (awareness, foresight) but you need the underlying floors without which the penthouse does not exist.
